This geocoding locator is based on a regularly maintained street network for the City of Miami streets. The locator uses street ranges and street segment names to insert addresses (real and hypothetical) along the street (parity-validated) based on the street range the house number falls within. The geocoding locator is a general use locator suitable for mostly approximate placement of addresses along the street segments on which the address falls. Known limitations include available of addresses only within the range of the street network in use (City of Miami) and base addresses with no units. While the unit component of an address tends to be discarded during a batch geocoding operation, some ill-formatted or very long unit tokens may throw off the geocoding parser and thus return a no match/ungeocodable address. In such cases, it is recommended to clean the data (remove units) and standardize the addresses prior to geocoding the addresses. |
